Garbage binary data in connections without error correction
Posted by arthurpaulh@yahoo.com on June 28th, 2004

Hi!

I did recently a lot of tests using a MapleTree 2100 board, and I have
some problems when I use V.32 or V.34, no error correction, no
compression, 46 channels in local loop:
from time to time I receive garbage binary data, like (in hex): " 6f
c9 70 b4 ee 06 f9 46 a8 b3 d3 28 75 4f ae 1b ", before or after the
test file (and rarely overlapping small portions of the test file).

Does anyone know a reason for this behaviour?

I don't know what is a MapleTree 2100, but I will give a guess:

Noise on the phone line? This is the most obvious.

While the obvious answer is some kind of noise, I'd guess that this
(occasional glitches in high-speed modulations) is very common, and it's the
reason why practically every modem over 2400 bps is sold with error
correction.
