Hello!

I cannot get Gomadic's ComCube (http://www.gomadic.com/laptomobphon.html)
and a Motorola V300 cellular phone (T-Mobile) to work with an old Toshiba
Satellite 2655XDVD notebook (Celeron) with Windows 98 SE (all updates),
but it works perfectly on my OLD Compaq Armada 1585DMT (Pentium 150 MMX;
Windows 95 OSR2). I matched both notebook's settings and still couldn't
get them to work. I used the instructions on the Web site:

Basically, the Toshiba laptop sometimes does NOT see the Standard 19200
bps modem or can see the modem. I tried using MS' Dial-up Networking
(DUN) and Hyperterminal. I fiddled with all the settings, rebooted
cellular phone and laptop, clean booted, uninstalled programs that used
to use the serial port (serial port did work in the past), etc.

I have attached the modem log when the modem worked. Modem diagnostic
showed all OK when working. Notice the modem commands are slow or
inconclusive (Hyperterminal). Any ideas? I even tried 9600 speed for
COM1 and Standard 9600 bps modem, but it didn't work either.

You might like to try this diagnostic utility which I wrote for
testing COM ports in real DOS mode. The program toggles each output
pin at a visible rate (1Hz, 0.5Hz, 0.25Hz) and allows it be looped
back to any input pin. The status of each pin is displayed
continuously.
