- Intel 536EP Problems w/ Caller ID & NetonHold
- Posted by Gary Kaucher on November 20th, 2005
This Intel 536EP modem (Encore ENF656-EHW-INPR) works great when it comes to
connecting to the internet, faxing, and voicemail. It's supposed to be V.92,
however, I am unable to get Caller ID or Modem on Hold to work using FaxTalk
and NetonHold respectively. I have Caller ID and Call Waiting on my home
telephone line. I have used drivers from the Intel website (4.77.80) and
from the Encore website (4.60.2). The 4.60.2 generally gives me the best
connection speed.
If I go to Hyperterminal and make a phone call to my computer with my
cellphone, I get no Caller ID entries, despite "enabling" Caller ID with
the VCID=1 command.

Apparently this is a known problem with 536EP modems.
Any help appreciated.

The modem chip has this written on it-
HM410F-HS
"*" 5VDC
1A 120VAC/30VDC
c**us CHINA
*This is a symbol that looks like an "H" and an "F" jammed together with a
circle around it
** This symbol looks something like a reverse "B".
If someone knows what chipset this is, I might be able to find the correct
driver.
Thanks,
Gary

It's not the chipset. It's a relay.
