- Large amount of bytes received = Windows XP service pack 2?
- Posted by UserKGK on October 26th, 2004
I was wondering, while I remain connected to the internet with my 56K
modem, there seems to be a large amount of bytes received. For
example, after aprrox. 10-20 minutes:
bytes sent = 450,000
bytes received = 5,000,000
I believe the process of downloading the windows xp SP2 has begun, and
I think that may be the cause of all the bytes recieved...
My question: How do I explicitly check if the download for SP2 has
begun?
Thanks, KGK

If you connect to the Windows Update site and start downloading you
should expect to see a progress window. Did change the setting on the
Windows Update to Automatically download?
With a 56k Modem it is not sensible to try to download the SP2 update.
The update is too large. Buy a computer magazine with an SP2 update
freebie disk.

Hope this helps.

You can also order a free CD (depending on your location) from Microsoft.
No cost!

SP-2 will be downloaded to this folder:
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
Is that file growing in size?
