Linksys wireless router + adsl modem
Posted by Metin Esat on July 21st, 2004

Hello,

I have a problem which only pro network guys can hopefully help me
with.

I have an ADSL line and an Apache ADSL modem that comes with a builtin
firewall. It has one input(phone line) and one output (ethernet line).
It also has USB support which I'm not using.

Until now I was connecting via this modem. However I wanted to gain
some freedom and place a wireless router in between. So I ordered a
Linksys Broadband Wireless Router. Model: W11S4PC11

But so far I have not managed to connect via the router. Not even
wired. I connect the ethernet line output of modem to the router's
internet input. The green light comes on. I connect my laptop to the
router via one of the router's ports. Again the appropriate green line
comes on. But I can not ping anywhere except the router itself.

What can be the problem? I'm stuck with this Linksys Router because I
live in Turkey and the item is bought from USA. Maybe you can help me
save my 100$'s.

Thanks!
