Linux compatible modems?
Posted by ***** charles on September 30th, 2004

Hi all,

In the Windows world, it has the ability to use cheap winmodems.
In the Linux world even with pnp, having a hardware based modem
is much prefered. This may not be the correct goup to ask this but
who makes the cheapest new hardware based internal or external
V.92 modem that works out of the box successfully with Linux?

thanks,
charles.....

I don't think anyone is keeping track of that any more. Grab a _current_

that's from last month, so you may need to grab it off the net - try

Actiontech was pretty cheap. What I'd suggest is looking at your favorite
computer store, and seeing WTF they are offering. Then look at the HOWTO,
and see what people think. Another good hint is to hit google at
http://groups.google.com and search for the modem name and the word
Linux - that will give you up to date information.
