I have a problem with an internal modem. I do not succeed to install the
modem why every time that I start the computer begins the search of the
driver and automatically restart the computer. I use XP and the modem
has the chip conexant. How I can make? Thanks

Checking all what Pete said, I'm not a true expert but been using modems
for a while. XP you said, I can see it searching XP and seeing as though it
can't find it, Pete might be right about installing the software first but
the new modems it says hardware found then you install the driver. You
should have the driver with you before you install the chip. Then start it
up, should say new hardware found, I would think it did say that, then it
asks where to look for the driver, you need either to have the cd that came
with it in the drive and tell it to look there.

(If you don't have the cd-rom, you'll have to download the driver from the
company site or another place and tell it to look where you saved it. If
you downloaded the driver file from the net you have to unzip it to a made
up directory that you choose. Then specify that directory to the driver
searcher.)

If that new hardware found doesn't pop up anymore, go to control panel,
printers and other hardware, then phone and modems options. Then click on
the tab modems, then hit add and it'll do the same thing.

Hope that helps

Scott
