- modem connects, but doesn't receive data
- Posted by Andromeda on April 3rd, 2006
Ok, I just bought a new ethernet card for my computer (which run
Win98), and I installed it. It runs fine, but now when I connect t
the internet, it will connect, but won't send or receive data. So i
ties up the phoneline but doesn't do anything.
I don't know what has caused this sudden change or how to fix it.
have a Softv92 modem installed in my system. This is the first tim
I've had a problem with it. The log says something lik
"hardware hangup by lowering DTR.
If anyone can help me with this it'd really be appreciated! Thanx

I don't like the looks of that. IRQ 0 is used by the RTC and probably
shouldn't be shared.

Yeah, I don't like that either.
Ah, a loosemodem.
You said this was windoze98 - see if you can find a dos command box. Run
the command 'route print' and also look at the output of 'winipcfg' and
the more button. COMPARE THAT with the same command run while the
modem is supposedly connected, and notice what is different. Remember,
we have no idea how you are connecting, and to what ISP, but that could
have a major impact on how things work.
No, I don't know - I got rid of windoze in 1992.
