I am sorry if this is the incorrect group for my question but if you
could help at all I would be very grateful (and maybe keep some of my
hair).

Up until last week my bosses PC dialled up without a hitch. We then
moved the pc and used a telephone extension line to connect to the
phone socket and it still worked for a couple of days. Then it
stopped connecting.

When I ask it to dial up I can hear it dialling out and then static.
After a minute I can hear a short recorded message but cannot make out
what it says.

I have tried to use another dial-up service (straight from the cd) but
this does not connect either. I am using 1470 to take off our 'number
witheld', the diagnostics say that the modem is working OK and I can
plug a phone into the socket, dial my isp number and hear the usual,
correct noises for connection so I am completely stumped.
