Can anyone tell me why I can't find 'WAVRSS.INF' for my 'wave device for
voice modem'...I have downloaded it from 'driverguide.com' in several
different locations at the site, but only end up with the wavrss.inf
'notepad'...any help much appreciated.

opens with the 'notepad'.

if you use win 2k or xp you can go like this: (logged on as
administrator)
click start then on the system control (where you can modify your
attitudes) then click hardware or system (if you click on system go
to harware and click hardware assistent)
then comes a window click next. windows is searching for new devices.
if found click to instell the drivers from a specific location ( not
recommended by windows - just do-...). there you have to use your inf
file. then next and hope that it works.
