modem frequently drops connection forMail or News

This is the error message for dropped server using Outlook Express in XPPro.

"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'Mail', Server: 'pop3.ispwest.com', Protocol: POP3,
Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F"

This is the error message for dropped server while using MS News.


Outlook Express could not post your message. Subject 'modem dropping
connection', Account: 'News', Server: 'cnews.newsguy.com', Protocol: NNTP,
Port: 119, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11004, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D
