- Modem ot Assihned an Interrupt

I have a us robotics faxmodem windows installed in windows xp.
I have intalled three times. Each time there is no interrupt assigned
to my com port.
The modem then fails the query with the computer.
The os is windsows xp peofessional
What Am I doing wring??

Is this a PCI software based modem? If so, make absolutely sure you
have the correct XP drivers (native drivers may not be on the XP
disc). If you need help to find them on the USR site, then post back
the model number and we can try to look.
If you have the right drivers, look at device manager and see if you
have any problems shown there. You may need to try a different PCI
slot if you have a resource problem, like an IRQ conflict.

Problems with IRQ Steering ???
I don't know about Win XP, but in Win9x you can examine the IRQ
Steering settings in Device Manager. You can also enable/disable the
four sources for the IRQ table.
