I have been using Callstation software for years with my older US
Robotics 33.6K voice modem. This combination has worked flawlessly.
When I upgraded my PC I could no longer use my USR because I had no
ISA slots available.
I have already purchased a GVC modem but I found that it reports the
CID information differently than the USR, and Callstation ( or any
other software I tried for that matter) can not interpret the data.
Using Hyper terminal I discovered the following
The USR modem always reported the data like this
DATE = 0831
TIME = 1845
NAME = Doe,John
NMBR = 7162579
The GVC modem reports the data in a number of different ways depending
on where the call originated.
For local calls where the name is not transmitted
DATE = 0831
TIME = 1842
MESG = O
MESG = 7162579
For local calls where the name is transmitted
DATE = 0831
TIME = 1953
NAME = Doe, John
MESG = 7229233
For Long Distance Calls
DATE = 0901
TIME = 2042
NAME = Doe, John
MESG = 14165551234
MESG = L
I had changed the "responses" section of my registry to make MESG have
the same hex value as NMBR. That worked fine for local calls when the
2nd MESG field contained the phone number, but with LD calls the 2nd
MESG field contained a "L" which Callstation assumed was the phone
number.
Can anyone recommend a modem that will present the data similar to the
older USR?. I live in Ontario Canada, is my problem related to the
CID format used in Ontario by Bell Canada.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I make extensive use of
Callstation.
