- Need Modem ID
- Posted by BR549 on November 11th, 2003
I recently acquired a modem made by Diamond Multimedia and need to
locate a driver and/or firmware upgrade. After searching the net I can
find to reference whatsoever to this modem. If anyone has knowledge or
a link to this driver I would be grateful. The modem has a tag that
reads: PCA Express 56i SP MS18 RAM LT-Diamond Multimedia Systems-P/N
23540009-002. Most Diamond modems I've seen have a SUP XXXX model
number on them but this one doesn't. No FCC ID number or other
markings. Rockwell chipset RCVDL56ACF/SP R6761-21 9745 B43612-2
Mexico. Thanks.

There is an archive of diamond drivers and firmware at
http://www.diamondmm.com/main.html and also at http://www.driverguide.com.
Hope this helps.

Also, the SUP number can be found by querying the modem with ati10, I
believe. You will need that number. The Express should be a hardware modem
so it should be possible to get it working with the "standard modem" driver
in order to get that query.

finger to keyboard and composed:
ATI3 reports the current firmware revision. The AT+MS=? command will
report the supported protocols. IIRC, the early ACF chipsets used a
1Mbit PROM which could be programmed for either k56flex or V.90 but
not both. Later versions had a 2Mbit PROM which could accommodate both
protocols.
As yours is a hardware modem, a generic Rockwell "driver" should work
OK.
