You may have to have the cable C.O. Come out and adjust your signal. -14dB
is just about at the limit for signal that you would want. You want to be
at about -15dB to +15dB.
There may be a bigger problem here though. I would think that ingress or
some other problem, may be at fault here ( it is at least worth looking
into) if just once and a while this is going on, there may be some sort of
signal changing going on here.
Have the cable C.O. come out and adjust your signal levels at the street
and that should solve your problem of the cable modem dropping off.
If you have other problems they will manifest themselves after you get the
cable signal changed.
