Just a note that on the 3-way splitter, the loss is not even across the
outputs. If it's marked, be aware of where each particular line goes. If
not, it probably looks like this:

The output on the left would be typically -3.5db. The other two will be
around -7db. Internally, it looks like this:

sure the lower-loss output went to the digital cable box; the other two
higher-loss outputs went to less demanding devices.
