Road Runner Albany Blocking Server Ports?
Posted by Daniel Norton on September 1st, 2003

I moved back to the Capital District and my Road Runner service seems
to be blocking all incoming server session requests. Previously, it
worked fine. Is there anything posted with details about this new
policy? What do I have to pay to get incoming service requests?

I simply want to run a server to access information on my computer
while I'm away. Definitely low volume. SSH on TCP port 22. Will PC
Anywhere provide a workaround, or is GoToMyPC.com the only
alternative?

Thanks.

I phoned Road Runner and they said that they don't block all ports and
they weren't blocking the port I was interested in (22 / SSH).
Switching to another port solves my problem, so they obviously _are_
blocking that particular port. RR.COM tech support doesn't know their
own network configuration. Go figure.
