Robotics Sportster 14,400 Fax Modem + dialing up a data logger
Posted by kingh on March 1st, 2008

I have an air quality management system all putting data to a data logger
8800. I have this setup in many stations but this is a new station therefore
everything needs to be programmed in order for my self to dial up through
hyper terminal to access the information. I got these codes to put in to the
modem so its able to be dialed up however im having problems programming this
modem. It doesnt seem to be taken it in. My dip switches on are: 1,2,3 up 4
down, 5,6,7 up 8 down. Here is the code i was told to put in:

AT&F&W
AT&D0V0Q0
ATS0=1&C1E0&W

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm looking at the back of a 56k Sportster, but I believe the switch
settings are the same. You've set:

1. DTR normal
2. Verbal Result Codes
3. Suppress Result Codes
4. No echo offline commands
5. Auto answer
6. CD normal
7. Load NVRAM defaults
8. Smart Mode

Restores factory settings and writes them to NVRAM.

&D0: Ignore DTR
V0: Numeric Responses
Q0: Result Codes Sent

S0=1: Ring to answer on (1)
&C1: Modem controls CD
E0: No command echo
&W: Writes to NVRAM

A couple of things come to mind:

First, you've set Result Codes Sent (Q0), but disabled result codes with
switch 3. I'm not certain which takes precedence.

Second, you may need to fiddle with the DTR settings. It may be better to
set DTR always on (sw1 down) instead of ignoring it (&D0). Or, let the data
logger deal with it.

Beyond that, there's really not enough information to go on. A more
complete description of the difficulty would be helpful.
