Bandwidth Requirements
Posted by FireHawk on October 31st, 2005

Is there an official posting of the amount of bandwidth that each of the
applications in Windows Messenger uses?

For example, what is the bandwidth use for:

voice
video
white board
file transfer

Is there a way to limit the bandwidth? If so, for each applications or as a
group (i.e. Windows Messenger)?

Thanks for the help.

Greetings,

There is no official posting of this because quite simply it really depends what's going on.
For instance, if you're in a voice conversation, but no one is saying anything, Messenger
will just cut off the audio and barely send anything.

Regardless, you can limit the bandwidth for audio/video but that's about it.
