- Do I need this program?
- Posted by DMAdmin on January 8th, 2006
It launches itself while I'm surfing the internet and tells me I'm logged in.
What am I logged into and why? And it won't allow me to close the program.
The msg says it's need by IE or Outlook.
Can it be turned off or deleted altogether? If so how?
Thanks.

The least you could do is tell us the name if this program.

Greetings,
As long as you don't mind losing Remote Assistance, Whiteboard or Application Sharing within
MSN Messenger, you can simply uninstall Windows Messenger by clicking the Start button, then
click Run and type in (copy-paste if you like):
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
Then click OK.
Messenger will then be uninstalled. For more detailed instructions and screenshots, go to,

Sorry Jerry, I assumed since I was in the windowsxp.messenger forum that I
didn't have to explicitly state what program I was having trouble with. My
bad. However, I did get an answer from Jonathan that answers my question.
