MSN Messenger interfering with Windows Messenger
Posted by michaelbillinger@yahoo.ca on October 31st, 2005

I would like to use both Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger with the
same account, since I seem to have difficulties viewing my friend's
webcams with Windows Messenger (when they are using MSN Messenger),
therefore, although I use Windows Messenger as my default messaging
program, I would like to be able to close that program and open MSN
Messenger in its place in order to view webcams. The specific problem
that I am experiencing is this:

I use Windows Messenger because I like how it integrates with Outlook
Express, my default email client. I have Windows Messenger set to open
when Outlook Express opens, to sign on automatically, and to close when
I close Outlook Express. However, when I download and install MSN
Messenger, it interferes with my installation of Windows Messenger.
After the installation of MSN Messenger, Windows Messenger will not
automatically sign in when I open Outlook Express, and when I sign in
manually, Windows Messenger no longer integrates my contacts list into
Outlook Express. Even when I go into the options of MSN Messenger and
uncheck the boxes that control if MSN Messenger will start with windows
or when connected to the internet, the same problem remains. I would
like to have both messenger programs installed, and to use them
separately, but the way that MSN Messenger seems to interfere with the
operation of Windows Messenger is frustrating and inconvenient. Is
there any solution to this problem?

Thanks very much.
