- ver 4.7 wont let ver 7.5 log on...
- Posted by Rick on January 5th, 2006
I have installed WM VER.7.5 but overtime my laptop reboots VER 4.7 logs in...
I went to the control panel ~ add and remove programs ~ add and remove windows components and took the tick out of the WM box in a hope to uninstall the old VER. but it had no affect.
How can I stop the old VER. from logging on ? and pref remove it ?

Greetings Rick,
As long as you don't mind losing Remote Assistance, Whiteboard or Application Sharing within
MSN Messenger, you can simply uninstall Windows Messenger by clicking the Start button, then
click Run and type in (copy-paste if you like):
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
Then click OK.
Messenger will then be uninstalled. For more detailed instructions and screenshots, go to,

The other option would be to just create a second Hotmail account, then log
into the MSN Messenger(ver 7.5) with the new account. The 2 messenger
services will run together and you don't lose the remote assistance option,
or any of the other Windows Messenger options.
note:Windows Messenger and MSN messenger are 2 separte and very different
programs.
