- Video conferencing in Windows messenger
- Posted by Lynn on December 18th, 2005
I am new to windows messenger and am having trouble setting up a video
conference. i can contact the other person but neither of us can see or hear
each other.Other person is using NAV firewall and have changed the settings
according to Symantec site. I am using ZoneAlarm but not sure what my
settings should be to allow video thru. Both of us are on broadband. My
router is a speedtouch and hers is a DirecWay. Can anyone help with some
advice??
Cheers,
Lynn

I'm having simmilar issues with both Messenger 5.1 and Office Communicator.
The machines connect but no Audio/Video is transmitted. This only occurs
when the machines do not have a public IP. I've tested both machines with
D-link 624 and Linksys routers. Each router us UPNP enabled each machine has
the UPNP services installed. I've tried DMZ and Port forwarding also. I have
managed to get it to work if both machines are directly conencted to the
Internet with the Windows firewall enabled.
