- Wink Removal
- Posted by JustUs on January 2nd, 2006
I installed third party pack(s) of winks. There were some that I consider not
appropriate and want to remove them. I was able to remove others, but not
these 7. Are they stored in a folder somewhere so that I can delete one at a
time? I have a freeware program that will uninstall ALL, but not one at a
time. I understand that this is a bug in Messenger 7.5.

Greetings,
Firstly, just down MSN Messenger, then click Start, then Run, type "%appdata%\microsoft\msn
messenger" and click OK. Then go through each folder and remove the Winks, Winks2 and Winks3
(depending on what you have) folders in each. This will force Messenger to re-create the
Winks for each user.

I think you meant "shut down", not "just down", right?

Thank you for the info. Between post and my reading your reply, Messenger
seemed to have fixed itself. Not quite clear on "recreate". Does this mean
for just the default Messenger winks, or for the ones I have installed as
well?
Anyway, as computing would have it, broken today, cyber-healed tomorrow.
All you MVPs are great. Have a prosperous New Year!

they are recreated...
