Complicated network to set up?
Posted by net_worker on September 9th, 2005

Hello all,

I’m about to embark on a mission and I need some help please. I want
to set up a USB printer (HP PSC 1355) and an external USB hard drive
to a network than can be accessed by a wired desktop PC (standard RJ45
cable) and a wireless laptop.

Is there a (reliable) unit I can buy to connect these peripherals and
then use them on both computers using a wireless and wired connection?
To make things a bit clearer, I’ve drawn a beautiful picture for you
attached to this post

Any advice is greatly appreciated

I think the hard bit will be the disk drive, unless you're willing
to attach it to the desktop PC and network it that way. If that's
acceptable, you probably need a print server with a USB port, a wireless
access point or router, and a switch (which might be built into the
AP/router or even the print server). Finding everything in one box
might be a bit tricky, if that's a requirement.
