Hi, all. I hope someone can offer some advice. My network set-up is a
bit odd. The cable modem is connected to a Netgear MR814v2 wireless
router and both are in an outbuilding about 100' from the rest of my
computers.
In the main building, one PC is connected wirelessly to the Netgear
router and, by a second NIC, to a hub. All the other machines are
connected via Cat5 to that hub.
I'd like to be able to put a wireless device of some sort in the main
building so that all of my machines there could be connected
wirelessly instead of by ethernet cable.
So my question is: Is there a device that I can buy and install in the
main building which will connect wirelessly to the Netgear router in
the outbuilding AND provide wireless connectivity to all the machines
in the main building? I'm not sure if I'm talking about an access
point, a bridge, or something that doesn't exist. I've looked at the
Netgear ProSafe Wireless Access Point and the Linksys WAP11, but from
the mfr's web sites, I can't see whether they would work for me.
Would really appreciate any advice. Thanks for reading this.
