- D-Link Router + Battle.Net port issues
- Posted by ixtahdoom on January 1st, 2004
Hi All,
Prefaces: I already spoke with DLink Tech Support, Blizzard Tech
Support and my SBC DSL tech support, and no one can seem to figure
this out:
For some reason, I cannot host a game of WC3 on battle net.
1) I just reinstalled a fresh Win2k image, with no firewall software.
2) I opened the virtual server on my 614+ just like DLink says, and no
luck.
[2b) I tried the latest, and three other versions of the 614+
firmware.]
3a) no one can join my games (private or public)
3b) I tried netstat -an, when WC3 is running, and only see a TCP:6112
port open, but no UDP:6112.
This is driving me crazy. Any ideas???
Thanks,
itd

You may have to use the "Special Application" settings to open it rather
than the "Virtual Server" settings. In fact, I see that Battle.net is
already preset (but disabled) in Special Applications under my Dlink 614+.
Virtual Server requires a triggering event from the outside world to to
begin, whereas Special Application is open no matter what.
