Networking a Dialup modem
Posted by Sherri Brown on January 26th, 2004

I have a US Robotics 8054g router to which I have ran a cable from my
ethernet card in one of my desktop computers. (This computer has my dialup
modem that I want to connect to the internet). I then have a wireless pci
network card in another desktop and 2 wireless turbo cards in two laptop
computers. I have the file sharing and printers working on this network but
I cannot figure out how to configure my dialup modem connection in the
desktop so my other computers will connect through it to the internet. I
have made it a shared connection but for some reason the othere computers
will not connect to the internet through it. I have run the conncection
wizard on all of the computers also. Can anyone help?

What operating system are you running on the system with the dialup modem?
It may have "Internet Connection Sharing" just waiting for you to enable it,
and then configure the other clients to use it...

if you are running XP on the box with the modem then you must be
running win98 B or better.

if that is the case, simply put the win XP cd in the other computers
and when the welcome screen comes up, click on browse other services
(install?) then click on install small office or home network.

and that should be it.
