I'm having trouble bridging my LAN to another using a Compaq WL400.
Equipment used:
PC with Win98 and Belkin FSD6020
Compaq WL400 (Access Point)
Siemens SpeedStream SS2624 (home DSL/Cable router with WiFi and hub)
Linksys BEFSR41 (home DSL/Cable router with hub)
(The WL400, BEFSR41 and SS2624 all have latest firmware.)
Settings:
SSID='ABC' (just for the testing phase!)
WEP=no (again, just while I'm testing!)
Channel=11 (also tried 6, same results)
Mode = 'Infrastructure' (can only set this on Belkin FSD6020)
High Rate = on (can onlyl set this on the Compaq WL400)
No access control, MAC filtering, URL filtering, etc.
Here's what works:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[PC w/FSD6020] ... WiFi ... [SS2624]
[PC w/FSD6020] ... WiFi ... [Compaq WL400]--via LAN port--[Linksys]
So, as far as I know, my WiFi card, AP and routers all work fine.
Both tests were done without changing the settings on the PC (just
renewed the DHCP obtained addess using winipcfg), so I conclude that
they all WiFi devices are set the same. (This could be the fatal
assumption.)
Here's what I want to do, but it does NOT work:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[PCs w/NIC]
|
|(via LAN ports, DHCP 192.168.1.100-200)
|
[Linksys BEFSR41] (WAN port IP=192.168.254.252, GW=192.168.254.253)
|
|(via WAN port, cross-over cable)
|
[Compaq WL400] (IP=192.168.254.253, can be ping'd from PCs behind
Linksys)
...
WiFi connection (this is the broken part)
...
[Siemens SS2624] (LAN IP=192.168.254.254)
|
| to Internet via DSL (seems to work fine)

Any thoughts anyone?
