: will a NIC auto-recover from a 10bT to 100bT conversion?

Hello!

I maintain a Dell Poweredge server running NT4, using a Intel 82557-based
10/100 Ethernet PCI adapter.

The network is operating at 10baseT, and tomorrow the network techs are
coming over to switch this network port to 100baseT speed.

I am home with the icky flu, so I won't be there for the conversion.

Do most network cards "auto-recover" when disconnected from the 10bT
wallplate, and then re-connected a minute later to the (upgraded in the
wiring closet) 100bT wallplate?

Or would the server need a reboot, or would I need to make network-card
related setting?

Educated guesses welcome as well!

Thanks ALOT for any advice!

-Mike
