Greetings,

Well, I did a Google search and, if I found the information that I want,
I didn't understand it. So I'll just come right out and ask.

I have three computers with 802.11g wireless cards already installed. I
also just happen to have a wireless access point, Belkin F5D7130. I do
NOT have a router.

I have no need for the computers to talk to each other, but I would like
for all of them to have Internet access. Can I connect the WAP directly
to the Ethernet port on the cable or DSL modem? If I do, and it works,
are there any pitfalls that I should know about?

When routers are dirt-cheap, I imagine this is the cheaper way than
whatever fancy footwork you are trying to get to.

Thanks to all who responded. Though wireless routers are inexpensive, I
wanted to avoid purchasing one unnecessarily. Can't get around it,
though.

Indeed a Brain teaser ...
U could connect one PC (A) to the Internet via the Access point in the
infrastructure mode. Also has ICS setup.
Other PCs connect to PC (A) in Adhoc mode... I guess this would work.

In case the PC (A) is not on, other PCs may directly connect to the
internet using the Access Point!
