Have 4 port router in line and working with internet. To add new item(s) to
router will I have to use the online Setup Wizard for each item added?

What do you mean "new items"? Do you mean new computers? It depends on
what operating system and how the computer is set up. In many cases
simply plugging an ethernet cable into the new computer and turning it
on is enough. If the computer already has dialup configured or a proxy
server or the like, then yes you can run the Setup Wizard from Internet
Properties>Connections>Set up connection manually.

Yes, adding computer(s).

Your answer tells me that what procedure is required depends what is
attached to the open router port(s).

I did, as you suggest, connect a computer to an open port and it plays -
partially. I can access the interent with both computers but one computer
does not see the other. Both computers "Computer Name" were compared and they
share the same workgroup name. That is why I am asking my question.

Thank you, Vern

No. Setup is run once to get the router working. All other PCs just
connect to it with no further setup required.

Set the network adaptor card in each machine (Network Connections, then
right mouse click > Properties > TCP/IP setting) to automatically acquire an
IP address, and have DHCP enabled on the router.

Should work fine.

You asked about Internet access so that was the answer I gave you.
However, what you are *really* asking about is file and printer
sharing. The workgroup name is irrelevant; Windows machines do not need
to be in the same workgroup to share resources although all machines on
a network must have unique computer names. Since both machines are XP
Home, start by running the Network Setup Wizard. Have both machines
turned on and connected to the router when you do this and follow the
Wizard's instructions. You will be asked whether to enable file and
printer sharing; naturally you will say "yes". Then reboot the
machines, share out desired resources, and that should do it. Make sure
you don't have a third-party firewall installed. If you do, then go to
the Windows Firewall applet in Control Panel and turn the WF off. Then
configure your third-party firewall to allow lan traffic as trusted.

Many thanks to the two of you who responded. With the tips, I was able to get
it working just fine. No, I did not have to run the Setup Wizard again and
the file & printer sharing problem was the fault of Norton. Running Norton's
Network Wizard cleared up the blocking of the two computers talking to each
other.
