- DNS is unable to resolve names to Ip addresses
- Posted by Tim on October 11th, 2005
If I ping www.microsoft.com from a cmd line I get;
C:\Documents and Settings\Tim>ping www.microsoft.com
Ping request could not find host www.microsoft.com. Please check the name
and tr
y again.
However, If I check with nslookup I get;
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: lb1.www.ms.akadns.net
Addresses: 207.46.199.30, 207.46.20.60, 207.46.19.60, 207.46.20.30
207.46.198.30, 207.46.198.60, 207.46.225.60
Aliases: www.microsoft.com, toggle.www.ms.akadns.net
g.www.ms.akadns.net
Which is correct, So why is my DNS client not resolving the addresses?
I have re-installed winsock and tcp-ip using netsh etc and still no joy.
I am using XP pro SP 2.
Thanks
