- Domain controller for this domain could not be located

Howzit.
Recently had windows 2003 Domain controller die, had to recreate the domain.
now had 2 pc's which were on the "old" domain (new domain name is the same).
The one PC I removed from the domain, added again, works perfectly. The other
PC, removed from domain, added again, try and log on it gives me "The domain
controller for this domain could not be located." It joined the domain
without a problem, this is only afterwards, when logging on. Also, if you log
onto local pc using local admin, you cannot in computer management add
anything from the domain into administrators group, it cannot find that
location. Yet it did create a computer account in the domain, even renamed
the pc (while in workgroup) and it created the account again. removed
profiles, and it allowed me to log on, but could still not add domain users
to the local admin group. Both PC's have XP Pro SP 2 with latest updates. Any
ideas?

I would check the DNS setting first. Also delete the computer DNS record and then try re-join it again.
