- Network assigning IP address already assigned peripheral

Running XP professional on a brand new machine connected to a network. The ip
settings are set for dynamic ip address. However, it continues to assign the
ip address of a local printer. We tried refreshing the ip address using the
dos prompt but it continues to assign the same address. Therefore, Microsoft
Exchange server is not available.
Any suggestions?
