network cable unplugged
Posted by Craig on November 22nd, 2005

Am running win xp service pack 2, network was fine until today when installed
another (spare) HDD, now cannot connect to router. checked cable - no probs,
have a intel pro/100 VE network (built into motherboard) have updated the
driver and run tests on it and all appears to work well. Have green light at
the back and intermittently have orange light flashing. this computer is
hardwired however the wireless router seems to be working fine (now on laptop
using it) can can hardwire the lap top into the router no probs (same OS).
Have uninstalled and reinstalled the network card. all to no avail - still
says network cable is unplugged. Any other suggestions? (have also tried
disabling network - powering down and reenabling and disabling, uninstalling,
powering down - unplugging powercord and reinstalling). Dont mind installing
new card if I have to but it seems a bit strange?
