- Others cannot access my shared folders
- Posted by PeteBux on May 16th, 2006
Hi,
My PC has one shared folder, 'Shared Documents', but nobody can access it
through the network. From every other PC one receives the error they don't
have the permissions to access my PC. All normal windows settings seem to be
OK.
I've suspected the Firewall but disabling it doesn't help to solve.
Any tips?
Pete

Pete,
Is this the same computer that had a WINS problem earlier?
The complete and exact message text might be useful here. You could have a
browser conflict, a firewall or other security program setting, and / or even
file sharing permissioning problem. Read this article with an open mind.

What firewall are you disabling? Some third party firewalls are known for
causing problems like yours when disabled.

Chuck,
I've read your article and edited the 'restrictanonymous' settings from the
register. This solved my problem as this setting was indeed set to 1 instead
of 0.
Great thanks!!
