Possible virus influence?
Posted by DanaK on September 27th, 2005

I may be dealing with a virus here but Symntec is not detecting anything.
I'm trying to get an XP Pro workstation to talk to the network - it was last
week - but the network icon in the System Tray has a "bang mark" on it and
I'm getting an error message that says "0x0000267B DNS_ERROR_NO_TCPIP".
TCPIP is still in the Network card properties and checked. I tried removing
and then re-installing it but I still get the same error (Actually there was
a Microsoft TCP-IP protocol installed when I did this - in addition to the
standard TCP-IP protocol that appears in the NIC properties box). At first I
thougth the integrated NIC had bombed out on me so I deactivated it in the
BIOS and put another card in. Same thing happened there too. This is a Dell
Optiplex PC.

I've never ran into this before, any ideas? This is a fully updated, sp2 OS.

Thanks.
