Hello,
I have a strange problem that affects my ability to publish to one of my
websites from my XP machine, but oddly enough I believe I have tracked it
back to the ability to access/create web folders. Here is the deal:
I have been publishing to my site for years, and I just created another
site. All of the sudden, when I try to publish it doesn't ask me for a
user/password and it gives me an error that makes me think the server doesn't
have frontpage extensions installed. Well, I know I do because I went to my
second XP machine with frontpage and I can publish my site without issue.
What I have found is I can create web folders for all of my sites except for
the one that one let me publish to it. The error is: The folder you have
entered does not appear to be valid.
Now, I believe the problem is that since it doesn't ask me for a user/pass
that it might have bad cached credentials, but I just don't know. Also, when
I try to publish the wecerr.txt file says:
HTTP 0 The Web server, or a proxy server, returned a badly-formed HTTP
response. Please notify the Webmaster for the server.
Now, like I said, I can publish to my site from a second XP machine without
issue, so this is why I think my credential or password is hosed and it won't
prompt. Also, I can add other web folders to my "bad" machine, so I know
some web folders work and others don't. As a matter of fact, I am adding web
folders from my same web provider (insightbb).
But anyway, can ANYONE help? This is driving me crazy. Like I said, I can
publish using my other machine, and on my bad machine I can publish to my new
site.
Help, and THANKS in advance!!!
Dave
