Shared Connection won't unshare
Posted by griffee@email.com on February 18th, 2006

In WinXP Pro, I set up a share with my cable modem. It is currently
showing "Shared" in the Network Connectionw window

I went to Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs/Windows Components and
there is no ICS to uninstall.

I went to the Network Connections, and the Advanced Tab only offers
Windows Firewall options.

I can't delete the connection and reinstall (grayed out).

Help?

TIA

That's right. ICS isn't a separate component in Windows XP, and it
can't be installed or uninstalled.

Check the LAN connection. The sharing option only appears in the
Internet connection's properties when the LAN connection is enabled.

Another possibility is to run the Network Setup Wizard and not choose
the Internet sharing option.

To delete a network connection, go to Device Manager and uninstall the
network adapter that the connection uses.
