soho to linksys router?
Posted by saw8343@gmail.com on February 23rd, 2006

Ok, quick question.

I just acquired a soho 4 port router. But my network has 5 devices. I
used to run a linksys 4 port router. Is it possible to go from cable
modem, into soho, out of soho port 1 and into linksys router?
esentially adding the extra ports off the linksys.

J.

Instead of jury-rigging something, just buy a switch. Plug it into the
router and there you go. Linksys has an inexpensive 5-port switch that
will solve your problem.

Yes. To use the Linksys router as a network switch, disable its
built-in DHCP server.

You might need to connect the router-to-router network cable to an
uplink port on one of the routers.
