- Thursdays Microsoft Update stopped Win98 machines connecting to WinXP machines!
- Posted by rwhittlesey@rtt.uk.com on January 10th, 2006
Hi all,
On Thursday (05/01/2006) I ran the MICROSOFT UPDATE on a couple of
WinXP machines and since then I can't get an win98 machines to connect
to them!
We have a large(ish) network (around 100 computers), and none of the
Win98 machines can access the WinXP machines that have done the
updates, all the non-updated WinXP machine can be accesses fine.
Anyone have any ideas why?

That update can't be your problem - it only addresses the issues in the WMF
exploit, not networking. Please provide more details including error
messages and any event log entries on the WinXP computers at the time of the
connection attempt(s).
