- two network connections?

Why is it that under Network Connections it shows both "Internet
Connection" and "Local Area Connection" as connected?
If I'm connected through the LAN then I shouldn't need to have Internet
Connection right?
This is on a home network connected by a DSL Router/Modem and switch.
Any ideas why I have both connections showing and recommendations please?

Marty,
The item "Internet Connection" is most likely a NAT router using UPnP. Having
that item displayed lets you access the router thru a UPnP interface, and make
appropriate changes. Assuming that you make configuration changes thru the web
interface in the router, you can just ignore "Internet Connection".

This is harmless. You will get the Internet icon depending on how IGD and
UPnP are
confiured. See:
