Unable to access windows update with Netgear wireless router
Posted by Don Burnette on November 13th, 2005

I recently replaced my D-Link wired router with a new Netgear Wireless
router.

My computer is wired to the router with it's ethernet connection. I no
longer can access windows update. The browser opens, but just freezes.
I can access other sites, however some seem to be slower in opening up.

I removed the wireless router and ran my cable connection directly to the
computer's ethernet port. I was able to access windows update with no
problem.

I looked through the router's settings, and did not see anything that really
stuck out at me that possible could be causing this.

I would appreciate any ideas to look for..

Thanks,

Don Burnette

Augh, never mind!

In looking through the router's settings again, I saw where I could check
for firmware upgrades. There was an upgrade available, so I downloaded and
installed it.

Everything works fine now, including windows update!
