i am able to connect to my vpn server in xp pro ok but after it connects
nothing happens i.e access to files on the server computer. Have I forgot to
do something I am unaware of.

Kind of a vague question. When you connect to a Windows VPN server, the
only access you should expect is to shared resources. What happens if you
Start/Run \\ServerName\ShareName or \\ServerIP\Sharename?
