- Why couldn't some people see all computers in the domain?
- Posted by Lisa on May 7th, 2008
Hi,
We runs windows 2003 server and XP pro for workstations. Some of the XP user
can see all computers in the domain under Microsoft Windows Network, but some
of them can't. Can someone help to point out the reason?
Your help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Got WINS? If you want network browsing, you ought to be using WINS. Make
sure everyone has NetBIOS over TCP/IP enabled in their NIC properties (they
will by default if you use DHCP from your W2003 box....)
You can then stop & disable the computer browser service on all
workstations. For help installing/configuring WINS try posting in
microsoft.public.windows.server.general.
If you don't want to use WINS, it's best to forget about browsing - and
disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.
