I have a client with an XP HE machines. They are on a local/home
network with a combo wireless/wired router and a DSL modem.
We recently moved their company's web hosting to a new server, and
updated the WHOIS/DNS records via netsol etc
The change propagated successfully, verified by spot polls throughout
the country and world of DNS servers.
But when they (the XP machines in question) ping the address or load
the web server pages they get the OLD IP resolution/address and their
browser attempts to load the old page (server error ensues, obviously).
We've talked to the ISP (CenturyTel) and they have the correct
information on primary and secondary DNS..they are having this issue
with NO other websites.
We've tried all of the following
ipconfig /flushdns
/relaease
/refreshdns
/renew
Also disabled XP DNS Client (permanently after flushdns didn't work)
and deleted the hosts file.
Can someone clue me in as to where this old address is coming from?
DNS is set to use DHCP settings from router via DSL modem, that all
checks out with ISP's settings, and if it was getting it form ISP it
would have the right address - running out of options here.
One note: client's machine resolves to the right address for
www.domainname.com but the incorrect one for domainname.com (though
when I ping either format I get the correct response)
