- Windows 98 with XP
- Posted by BL on January 10th, 2008
Hi, I have tried to connect my old Win 98 machine with my XP home computer.
The XP also connects with a Windows 2000 machine. Everything is fine, I can
ping the computers, share the resources and printer in both XP and 2000
computer. However, in my 98 machine, I can ping the other computer and see
the share folder but not the printers and faxes.
In XP My Network Places, in the root, there arethe shared folders. In the
Entire Network ---> Microsoft Windows Network ---> MyNetwork ---> XP
computer, I can see the same shared folders plus the Printers and Faxes
folder. I cannot figure out why my 98 machine fails to see it. I cannot see
all in my Windows 2000 laptop.
Thanks for your advice.
Barry

Windows 98 can't see shared printers/folders if their share names are
