- Windows System Error - there is an ip address conflict with another system on the network

Hello!
Magically, I am now receiving a little popup error message "Windows System
Error - there is an ip address conflict with another system on the network."
It appears maybe once a day and then several times in succession, or once
every few hours, or any other irregular pattern.
I have a hardwired LinkSys router and Win XP Pro that has worked flawlessly
since it was installed a year ago.
I've read through the e-mails in this group and have DHCP enabled and the
"other stuff" looks okay and the computer seems to be working okay, internet
access okay, etcetera.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I can't seem to find a link to the
error message or how to tell what it is referring to.
Thanks!
Ted S.
