I have a home workgroup network with a desktop pc attached to a wired linksys
router and cable modem. All computers and laptops running windows XP. I
also have a linksys wireless router (dhcp disabled) connected to the main
router like a hub. I use this wireless connection occasionally when I use my
laptop.
Everything worked fine until I decided to add encryption on the wireless
router. One of my laptops still works but my sony laptop got misconfigured
and no longer finds the DHCP server (main router) and consequently is not
being assigned a “behind the router” IP address. The result is I can’t ping
any WAN or LAN addresses with this laptop.
I had to remove the encryption settings and restore the entire hard drive on
the laptop to get it to work again. I reinstated the encryption settings on
the wireless router and now the same problem exists again. What do I
do???????????
